Kali ~ Red coral teeth with black onyx and sterling silver accents

This piece was designed as an homage to the ultimate Goddess of power 'Kali'.  Known to strike fear into the hearts of mortal men, she presides over creation and destruction and is a formidable deity. When this necklace was designed the faint-hearted were not in mind. This is a truly powerful piece, and only those that dare to make a statement with their jewellery will carry it off.

Branwyn necklace - Fossil coral, lava rock and freshwater pearl

Elinor designed this classic necklace, marrying beautiful fossil coral teardrop beads with lava rock and freshwater pearl.  We think this would look great with a white shirt!

Hera ~ Magenta Agate, Rose Quartz and Blue Goldstone

The dramatic Magenta banded Agate in this necklace is both solid and transcluscent in part giving depth to the stones, the raw rose quartz nuggets compliment the smoothness of the Agate and the Blue Goldstone adds twinkle and luster like a starry night.  Agate for protection and creativity, Rose quartz for balancing the emotions.

Hera, wife of Zeus was his principle wife and Queenly consort, she represents the ardent and unconditional love of a wife and Mother. Her symbol is the pomegranite which also identifies her with The Empress in tarot.  She exudes abundance, joy and the natural creative outpouring's of a loving heart.

Isis ~ Peacock nugget pearls with white fluorite points

We designed this a year ago, but had to wait until we found the perfect stones and pearls. This design is named after the Egyptian goddess Isis. Isis, a popular deity in ancient times was symbolic of feminine magic, motherhood, healing and nurturance. Peacock Grey Pearls for unlocking the magic within the ebb and flow of life. The White Fluorite points hold the power to release the past and soothe the spirit. Helps build energy. Accented with 22k vermeil brushed toggle clasp.

Florence earrings - Handcarved Lapis flowers with sterling silver and 14k gold filled accents

When we bought these gemstones we knew we loved them, but we weren't quite sure what to do with them.  Making them into earrings was definitely the best way to go...as they are stunning and different; just what we like.  They are called Florence as they look like something my favourite female vocalist of the moment would wear.  She is definitely a modern Goddess with her flame red hair flowing...I'm sure she channels Isadora Duncan.

Our first package!

So we assembled our first package on Saturday for our lovely family member Tanya who turned 40. She loved it...biased you say, well maybe just a bit. We decided on Fleur de Lis logo for Smashing Rocks! as it is the symbol of the Goddess. The three petals of the Lily signify Maiden, Mother and Crone (or wise woman as my mum prefers lol). We design and create all of our jewellery for the modern Goddess so it seemed highly appropriate. Anyway I've posted pics of our packaging for you to see.  We loved the seal as it indicates that the first person to open the package is you which makes it highly personal and intimate. Also, in the jewellery trade; any gemstone shipment from India usually comes sealed, so it's a wee nod to how gems have been shipped along the trade routes for many years.

Altea earrings - Turquoise/ Magnesite with Amazonite

I was dreaming of crystalline-blue Caribbean waters and pondered on the High Priestess of Atlantis and what she would have looked like. Beautiful and serene with gentle majesty. I designed a pair of earrings for her.

Kira - 14k Rose Gold-filled and Pyrite earrings

We made these earrings from 14k Rose gold-filled wire and pyrite nuggets. The look was to be elegant and edgy.  I had in mind Rihanna when I made these. This picture dosen't do justice to the elegant curve and lustre of the rose gold compared to the raw a grade Pyrite nuggets which remind me of meteorite.

Mia earrings - Inspired by a Lapis Lazuli night.

Took this pic with my iphone, not great quality but the blue of that sky was not to missed. Spectacular! This reminds me of deepest lapis lazuli blue.

Earrings that were made in response to the pic with lapis lazuli, sterling silver and 14k gold filled wire.

Little Snowdrops - Beautiful, brave and pure

Spring is here! And it feels gooo..d,  the sun is glorious it's still a wee bit cold but if the snowdrops can burst through and show so much stoic beauty then so can we. The purity of the droopy white flower against the strong vibrant green of the leaves is gorgeous.  Sometimes simplicity is the most effective way to proceed with gemstone beads.  Marrying two colours together that create a huge impact can look stunning.  This combination makes me think of pairing snow jade with green phantom quartz. Now I just need to source them lol.
